Being tourists

We went to Philipsburg Manor, which was an old Dutch mill originally built in 1680. The kids learned about slavery, the mill, colonial herbal medicines, and how to separate the wheat seeds from the straw. After our tour of the Manor, we went over to the Croton Gorge park where you can walk to the top of the giant dam that supplies NYC its water. Amber and Evelyn came too. It was a beautiful view! Both of these places were within 25 minutes of Grandma and Grandpa's house!

E and R mill some corn in the small household mill.

D reads an advertisement for slaves.

E helps make the herbal medicine.

R is separating the wheat seeds from the straw.

D did it too! (E did it too, but no photo.)

We made it!
